Behind The Design: Singapore When the Formula 1 circus rolls into Singapore, it brings with it more than just speed and spectacle - it delivers a visual feast that mirrors the city’s electric energy. This year, that spirit was captured in a single, striking image: the Singapore GP race poster. But behind the bold colours and dynamic composition lies a story of creative vision, cultural nuance, and design under pressure. At the heart of it all is Lucas Lucas Ulitschnik, the team's Graphic Designer tasked with distilling the essence of one of F1’s most iconic night races into a piece of art that resonates with fans around the world. Did the location or culture of the race influence your concept in any way? Yes, the location definitely influenced my design. Singapore is famous for being the first Formula 1 night race, so I wanted to highlight the city’s bright lights and the excitement of racing under them. The way the buildings glow and reflect off the track at night gave me the idea to use strong lighting and contrast in the poster. My goal was to show how unique and energetic the race feels in a city like Singapore after dark. What’s one part of your process that’s non-negotiable—something you always do? As well as the usual researching, texturing, and rendering of the poster. For me, the post processing in Photoshop let’s you make those small tweaks in colour correction, and details that bring everything together. In this poster I used my post processing to accentuate the brightness of the buildings reflecting off the track and car. I also added in the iconic fireworks to make the poster as a whole have more of an atmosphere.
